Houlette

Gleaning together a mix of distinctively folk, french and early pop influences, comes Melbourne based artist, Houlette. Houlette radiates a timely charm, performing lyrically evocative songs punctuated with bursts of dark intermissions and sultry sounds. Houlette has performed regularly within some of Melbourne's esteemed music venues, regional Victoria and Australia's eastern coast Capitals. Performances included The Forum Theatre as part of the 2008 International Film Festival and Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art for the Picasso Exhibition in August last year. During 2008, Houlette recorded her first 7" THE ESCAPE, in February 2008 with Neil Thomason at Head Gap Studios, Melbourne, with mastering by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service, Chicago, Il. The Escape was launched at Melbourne's revered Toff in Town and released exclusively on EXO Records. Houlette also recorded a limited edition EP, Sans Soleil, with Nick Huggins at A Pocket Full of Stones Studio in Melbourne. The EP was sold exclusively during her first international tour of Europe (performing several shows in the UK, Paris and Barcelona). Houlette is currently working on a debut Album to be released in mid-2009. "Felicity Cripps is a Melbourne girl with Gainsbourg pretensions. Flush with battlefield drums, warm guitars and sailing strings...her voice, breathy and full of flight..." Review : Beat Magazine 08.
